In an unexpected turn of events, Franschhoek's renowned and beloved Chef’s Warehouse at Maison has been given a fresh lease on life, all thanks to the determination of Seb Ackerstaff & Jessie Verdonschot (founders of the COCOON design brand).
This exciting development follows the recent announcement of the restaurant's impending closure, with Seb and Jessie seizing the opportunity to acquire the Maison Estate and preserve this cherished establishment. Under their innovative ownership, Maison has undergone an exhilarating makeover to usher in a new chapter!
Framed by the magnificent Franschhoek mountains, Maison encapsulates the essence of the phenomenal Cape Winelands, celebrating slow, relaxed living alongside the beauty of contemporary design. The idyllic landscape, with soaring poplar trees, olive groves, and agapanthus, seamlessly blends into the surrounding vineyards and gardens, transforming itself into a sanctuary.
Since the acquisition in mid-2023, Maison has soared to new heights, with their signature stamp emblazoned in the bathrooms. The fluidity of the open spaces throughout the estate is brought together by the sophisticated furnishings, signature artworks and fundamental features of the original barn.
The estate now proudly offers three recently renovated accommodations, including the Residence, the Stables Villa, and the Botanical Suite. The farmhouse can now accommodate as many as 14 guests so invite your family and friends along and revel in the rustic elegance of Maison! Soak up the South African summer sun from the main pool deck or cozy up in front of the flickering fireplaces during the cool winter months. Catering for accommodations can be arranged for an extra element of extravagance to your extraordinary experience.
